Transfer Efforts

C-ID is actively engaged in two projects to enhance and streamline transfer pathways for students. Below is an overview of the current efforts:

Transfer Model Curriculum

Transfer Model Curriculum (TMC) is a structured framework developed collaboratively by faculty from California Community Colleges (CCC) and California State Universities (CSU) to streamline the transfer process for students. Each TMC outlines a set of courses for specific majors, ensuring that students who complete these courses at a community college can transfer to a CSU with junior standing, having fulfilled lower-division major requirements. This alignment not only facilitates a smoother transition but also provides students with a clear academic pathway, reducing the uncertainty often associated with transferring between institutions.

Transfer Alignment Project

Initiated in fall 2019, the Transfer Alignment Project seeks to align transfer pathways between the CSU and University of California (UC) systems. The project’s primary goals include aligning TMCs with UC Transfer Pathways (UCTP) where feasible, and convening intersegmental faculty groups to discuss and implement necessary adjustments. This collaborative effort ensures that transfer curricula meet the requirements of both university systems, providing students with versatile and comprehensive transfer options. Current TMCs and their Status

The TMCs are organized into several categories to reflect their development and review stages:

  1. Finalized TMCs: These are fully developed and approved curricula ready for implementation by community colleges.
  2. TMCs Undergoing 5-Year Review: To maintain relevance and academic rigor, TMCs undergo a comprehensive review every five years.
  3. TMCs Open for Vetting: Drafts of new or revised TMCs available for faculty feedback.
  4. TMCs Closed for Vetting: TMCs that have completed the vetting process and are pending final approval.
